Meet our Yucatán Missionaries

Andy and Jen Schamerloh are Indianapolis-based missionaries to Puerto Morales, a city on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. The Schamerloh's lived in Mexico, developing the Yucatán program and launching a home-building program for needy families, a youth sports ministry engaging over 100 kids and teens, a childcare program, and a new high school. The focus is on supporting families and keeping kids off the streets and away from drug activities. Together with their three kids, they are onsite 3-5 times per year and serve on the leadership team for a local organization called Amor. As a primary care physician, Jen has been able to utilize her clinical skills in Mexico while Andy serves as the director of operations and development for the Amor Yucatán

Building A Foundation

They say, "Our foundation is on Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Everything we do (Home building, Tortugas sports program, En Su Imagen childcare, and our high school) are connected to and built upon that foundation. We want to build with the best materials too. This means we do extra training for our coaches and childcare workers. We hold players accountable for their practice time and school attendance. And we create themes and lessons for the entire year, so all our programs focus on the same topic simultaneously. Our childcare facility is built to inspire and brighten the lives of the children inside while teaching them God's Word. Finally, our home church works to teach and encourage the members to grow in their relationship with Christ through studying scripture and prayer. This takes lots of time and money, but we know we are called to build upon the foundation with good materials that will stand through the trials and storms."
