Matt Lema
Children’s Pastor
Matt serves as Children’s Pastor at Diversity Church by overseeing Sunday morning children’s programming and teaching content for kids ages 0 through 11. Matt holds a BA in Biblical Studies from SUM, and has 14 years of experience across Children’s, Youth, and Family Ministry as a credentialed reverend with the Assemblies of God. As a teenager Matt helped launch the children’s ministry for his father’s church plant in Whitewater WI. During seminary he served on staff as a multi-site children’s ministry director, before moving to IN in 2018 for full time children’s and youth ministry. Matt joined the DC staff in spring of 2026.
Matt is passionate about creating environments where kids are safe, actively engaging with scripture, and building a lasting relationship with Christ. And, these kids are going to have so much fun while doing it! He also firmly believes in equipping the family unit to worship, learn, and serve together. Discipling entire households to come closer together while drawing closer to Jesus is at the heart of all he does.
For Matt, child-like heartfelt fun and creative communication are core values. He loves to play! He loves games of all kinds and believes that play is one of the most powerful tools for teaching and connection. Matt brings that same energy and natural creativity into his teaching to make truths engaging, memorable, and clear for kids of all ages.
Matt has been married to his wife, Aubrey, since 2016 and together they are raising three wonderful kids: Nora, Millie, and JJ. Their household is filled with laughter, play, and plenty of everyday fun!
